    Awesome video! Do you use any PPF for the amount of off-roading you do?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad 8 часов назад

      No. You can drive yourself insane trying to avoid pin striping and damage to the paint. PPF can reduce pin striping for example, but is not thick enough to deal with what the rear tires fling out . I regular gear large bell noises as a rock hits the steps. Areas like the front of the rear fenders gets so damaged that even rhino lining gets worn away there. So my mind set is, this is an off-road truck. Pin stripes and paint damage don’t matter to me so I don’t bother me. It’s just another story to tell about a good trail ride or a fun day on the trails

      @automotiveandmore День назад

      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad yeah you can get the LZ0 3.0L Duramax in 1500 GM trucks. I have the older LM2 on my 21 AT4, and it's an amazing engine offroad with an amazing range per tank and a ton of torque. Don't plan on going back to a V8 gasser as long as this is an option.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad День назад

      Really? Going to have to try it out. Diesel engines aren’t known for their pep. How’s the power band? Do you really need to get on it to get it going? Or is it peppy like the 6.2?

    • @automotiveandmore
      @automotiveandmore День назад

      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad you should really check one out. It doesn't rev as high as the 6.2 so it feels different. It can do the same at lower RPM and the 10 speed does magic with that engine. The turbo diesel has a lil bit more get up and go than the 6.2 at lower RPM but the 6.2 feels more responsive at higher RPM. Now with tuning and even larger turbo, there is no question that the little Duramax blows the 6.2L out of the water. I do some of the high speed dirt roads here and my truck cruises so effortlessly compared to a gas engine at the same speed where it feels like it's screaming all the time. It is a very different driving experience.

      You can drive much faster in 4x4 on these trucks with no issues. Only thing to worry about with the 4x4 system is if you have mid travel. You can destroy CVs in 4x4 with the SVC kit and not recommended for high speed or low range. But if your stock, there are no limits

    Interesting their incorporation of a steering damper on an IFS platform. Their solution to bump steer from a suspension geometry that couldn’t be optimized without cutting into profit margins?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad 6 дней назад

      They way they explained it was the steering rack is not optimized for offroad use like the raptor one is. Being eletronic, they tried to adjust its programming to better deal with offroad feedback and they bricked the whole system. They said so on the video. We will talk about the steering in the next video. Because IMO it still needs some work and the slow ok footage shows it

    Hey just saw the vid. I have a 24’ 35p raptor with eibach pro lift kit on 37’s. Can you re-valve the shocks or are there no options to prevent the added wear and tear with after market springs

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad 7 дней назад

      There is not much you can do to prevent the extra wear but you can do things to prevent the damage that may come with that upper joint fails. So first off, the extra height will always cause CV axle boots to fail prematurely. Only way to increase their life is to reduce the preload which equals getting rid of those springs. For the failure of the top hat, make sure you get limit straps if you plan to offroad. That way you can prevent the shock of bottoming out and if it fails, everything stays in tact. And then for extreme situations, reinforce the top of the shock bucket. We covered all this in the video

  • @Mursedave

    It’s crazy that this is the real only OEM type truck for GM fans. Just buy a Gen1 Raptor and build it or buy a TRX or Raptor R and you’ll be extremely happy. This just seems so extra.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad 7 дней назад

      Yeah it does suck. Because the only true off-roader from GM is the Colorado ZR2 bison. But the current gen only has a Turbo4. I wish this was more affordable or that they release all of these components as a kit so that we can build these in our driveways. Everything is bolt on so no reason why we could not build this

  • @ConcreteButcher
    @ConcreteButcher 7 дней назад

    I don’t know. A lot of hate in the comments but buying a 65/75k truck then buying 40k in parts(glass, bumpers, live valve fox shocks, billet links, bumps, slappers arms, LCA and UCA, gusseted/ double sheared, cross over brace, supercharger, electronics, lights) then having all the labor, paint, shock tuning, engine tuning all done for you. And looks factory no gaps, no empty spaces. Might not be $200k but it’s not far off. Just finance and go have fun. I like it. I wish I was part of that middle class to afford it.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad 7 дней назад

      There is a lot to like here. The main thing that sucks is the price. I think this is a $120-140k build max with everything at low production numbers like they are doing here. And it’s basically on par with a Raptor R, BUT with a peppier engine. That 6.2 is awesome and power on demand was crazy. But the biggest thing I hated, was nothing that Fox did. Build quality of the GM truck is nowhere near as good as Ford. The door rattling on the ride along was crazy and very loud.

  • @Anthony-bg2pe
    @Anthony-bg2pe 7 дней назад

    So Fox bought Baja Kits from Brenthel and now they built a few trucks with fully bolt on kits. These are a rolling advertisement for the Kits Baja Kits/Fox will have out for the Silverado. Why else would they try and make a fully bolt on kit seem better than welding/custom framing? Just my guess.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad

    After two Raptors (2014/2017) and 22' TRX (paid $81k/factory ordered/price locked in Fall 21' (MSRP was $93,400) had to imagine the "Value" without any Manufacturer 'lineage'/years of history in this niche segment (like the 40% stronger frame on the TRX vs. REBEL). For example if Ford (or hopefully RAM revitalizing the TRX namesake) built a true HALO low production vehicle ($150k-ish). <- Wider flares, 39's on optional beadlock wheels, modular and popular usability upgrades for the bumpers, bed cage and interior (that can trickle down/be fitted to the TTV6/R), etc. Similar to AEV (even SHELBY) - they could offer the ability to 'factory' retrofit an existing customer vehicle for greater future value and resulting KBB reference (ie: an AEV conversion vs. personally adding AEV parts) <- I had contemplated both these scenarios with our 21' CTD2500. Shipping it to AEV made more sense vs. a AEV build 'replica'. Unfortunately at the price point I just see it as another future Barrett-Jackson offering alike their past FOX H2 editions (I believe they were to be built alongside SMA Hummer accessories?). Side note: FOX have acquired Shock Therapy (UTV suspension 'gurus') and doing turn-key Polaris builds under the UPFIT brand (circa $75k production builds)....sold on dealership floors with their own KBB designation/available financing. The $30k 'gap' is reasonable considering many enthusiasts spending (near) similar (customcage/wrap/wheels+tires/seat package/intercom/fresh air system/ICE/etc)...and the quality of these units/installs is very impressive in person. Admire the efforts but many have tried to offer low production GM/Chevrolet offroad builds (PaxPower/SVP,/YENKO, etc.) with little volume success. Akin to 'Flying Car' magazine covers that never come to full fruition. Instead of having y'all there post production... would have been more interesting/potentially valuable to 'Crowd Source' such minds and suggestions PRIOR. These contributions/ support community would help propel the end results further (with more intrinsic/extrinsic value!).

Chevy needs to make a true OE version of this for 100k cheaper and that might be what they do at some point ?

      Rs are going for $140-150k so this is $60k more. But agree that we need GM to actually make an OEM truck to match the Raptor. But I don’t think they will. Their lame attempt was the Silverado ZR2 and that’s it. The Colorado ZR2 business is probably the closest GM will get

    For 210k, you'd expect something more than a Baja kits bolt on kit and a rear coilover that doesn't have the spring 1/2 way down the body. The travel numbers are comparable to a 35" tire gen 3, which is a good baseline. Overall, if you have 210k before tax burning a hole in your investment account and you want one of 500 trucks, then it's a good buy. For anyone else, take any platform to a fabricator and get a solid 4wd cadged truck for that money.

    I switched from Eibach to Geiser springs on my Gen1 due to blowing threw cv boots due to the Eibachs raising the truck higher than the Geisers causing more wear on the boots. I also have the IWE deletes so the axles are allways spinning. I went through 2 axles both sides in a year and since going to Geisers I have gone over two years with no CV axles boots tearing.

    Hey. Great video! So in your experience, would the SDI levelling kit (top hat) be better than the RPG levelling kit, or perhaps the other way around?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad 9 дней назад

      Jury is still out. More have used the SDI top hat and pushed it to its limits. The RPG top hat has not been tested as much yet and I’m personally concerned about the joint up top. When SDI first did the top hat it was rigid and it broke. They added the bushing to account for required movement of the shock. The ball join may not allow all the movement needed and I’m worried about it wearing. Those type of ball joints don’t last long under load and movement. Hope that helps

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad 8 дней назад

      It depends. If your mainly street driving, keep it stock. If you plan to offroad, the nose is a bit low and gets buried on everything on the trails here in so cal. So for us its worth that extra height up front to keep the nose out of the dirt at full tuck.

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad That makes sense! I do go off road so had a level on my list of things to do. Excuse my ignorance but would the SdI levelling kit limit the total travel or the suspensions ability to soak up the rough stuff?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad 6 дней назад

      No it’s the one options with the least amount of limits. For every option ( spacers, collars, and springs) what ever lift they add, half is lost the preload they add. That’s why Geisers with the most lift cause so much problems. SDI top hat only uses 10mm of preload to gain an overall 1.75 in of list. It’s the least amount of any system. So you will have less issues overall and still keep a softer ride that comes either the stock springs. I normally recommend SDI top hat with SDI Eclick to get the most out of the stock suspension.

    What’s the best option for a guy running a gen 3 looking at adding a bed rack and tent and needs an option for the extra 500lbs in the rear? Don’t really care for a lift.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad 11 дней назад

      That’s a lot of weight to carry offroad. You’re going to need springs in the back to compensate for the weight. Geisers would be the better option. But the back end is going to be much stiffer than a stock front end. And when the bed is empty that back end is going to be high.

    • @scotthiebert4979
      @scotthiebert4979 11 дней назад

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad I guess I should be clear. 500 is the total weight with the tent/bed rack, all the gear total in the bed. And my off road is FSR’s.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad 11 дней назад

      So your running FRS shocks all around with stock springs in the rear currently? If so, the recommendation is the same. Not many options for carrying a lot of weight in Raptors. They are not designed for heavy loads. Off-roading and heavy loads contradict each other. So your best option to carry that load is upgraded rear springs and right now it’s just Eibachs and Geisers.

    • @scotthiebert4979
      @scotthiebert4979 11 дней назад

      I meant my off roading is FSR’s (forest service roads), so nothing too extreme. Good news is I found a tent rack combo today that’s 200lbs. So I’ll try that combo and see if I need to upgrade the rear.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad 11 дней назад

      Ah. Never heard anyone use an acronym for fire roads before. I would be cautious of any low cost options. You’ll find the truck is more capable than most racks. And it’s easy to get carried away. I’ve seen plenty of raptor and TRX guys use bed mounted racks that slipped off or bent the bed in one way or another. Raptor can go fast, even if you did not mean to. And you hit anything at speed and you experience a ton of g forces that most racks can’t handle.
